Richard J. Albrecht is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School and his LL.M. (in Taxation) from the New York University Law School.
He is a former Chairman of the Tax Section of the Orange County Bar Association. He taught tax law at the U.S.C. Graduate Tax Program and was an Adjunct Professor of Law at American College of Law and at Irvine University College of Law.
Colleen has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, TIME and Money. She has also appeared on CNBC’s “Squawkbox,” CNNfn and the “Wall Street Journal Report.” Colleen is the co-author of the book, “Best Intentions: Ensuring Your Estate Plan Delivers Both Wealth and Wisdom.” Colleen has been named in Super Lawyers – Southern California Edition.
Colleen competes under the Masters Division of the USA Track & Field Program. Colleen is a world champion in the 100 meters and a four time national champion in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters in her age group.
Mark E. Powell is the Firm’s managing partner. He is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Mark graduated from the University of Georgia and received his law degree from Mercer University School of Law.
Mark currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Chapman University Law School. He is a founding director and president elect of the Orange County Advisors in Philanthropy. He has written extensively in a variety of media and has been named by Worth Magazine as one of the Top 100 Attorneys in the estate planning field.
Charles Morris graduated, cum laude, from Pepperdine University School of Law after attending both Long Beach State University and the University of Southern California. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Chapman University Law School.
Chuck has over 30 years experience working with the Internal Revenue Service in the Estate and Gift Tax division. In 1988, Chuck was appointed the Internal Revenue Service’s Supervisory Attorney for the estate and gift tax compliance program for Southern California. From 2000 until joining the Firm, Chuck was the Internal Revenue Service’s Western United States Territory Manager for estate and gift tax compliance.
David P. Collins received both his undergraduate degree and his law degree from Chapman University. Dave focuses on business transactions connected to estate and gift tax planning. Before law school, Dave spent nearly a decade working for the major record label Capitol Records in Hollywood. While in law school, Dave was one of only ten law students in the country selected for the annual Burton Award for excellence in legal writing. In addition to his work at the firm, Dave serves as counsel for Western Community Housing, Inc.
Katherine J. Hughes is a graduate of Texas A&M University and received her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She received her LL.M. (in Taxation), cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Katie has been recognized by Southern California SuperLawyer Magazine as a “Rising Star” in the field of estate planning and probate. The State Bar of California awarded Katie the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services for her volunteer legal services. Katie frequently speaks to legal and community organizations in the areas of estate planning, trust and probate. In addition to her legal work, she serves on the Board of Directors of Women Helping Women.
Anson T. Cain focuses his practice on estate and gift tax law and estate planning. Anson is a graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University and Pepperdine University School of Law. He received his LL.M. (in Estate Planning) from the University of Miami School of Law.
Anson was an NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete while in college. During law school, he served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of The National Association of Administrative Law Judiciary.
